Do you like to feel the wind in your hair or the rain in your face? Do you prefer a warm sunny day or a winter's storm? Have you ever wondered what or how these events are recorded? Do you know what an AWS is? Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) come in a range of sizes, from the small home/desktop models costing only a couple hundred dollars, up to large commercial units costing many thousands of dollars. These particular ones you see near GZ are used by the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) throughout Australia to gather up-to-date data on what the weather is doing in that particular spot and this information is used, along with other data, to help forecast the weather.
