Ulica Mickiewicza łączy ze sobą dwa nowotomyskie place, pl. Niepodległości z pl. Chopina. Jest to jedna z najstarszych części miasta, która dawniej nazywana była ulicą Złotą. Nazwa miała wskazywać na „złote interesy”, jakie robili mieszkający tutaj kupcy.
Od kilku lat miejsce to jest powszechnie nazywane „wiklinowym deptakiem”. 1 maja 2004 roku odbyła się tutaj 4 edycja imprezy plecionkarskiej pod nazwą Piknik z Wikliną. Wówczas miejscowi plecionkarze wykonali wiele finezyjnych form wiklinowych, które ozdobiły tę część Nowego Tomyśla.
Powstanie wiklinowego deptaka zbiegło się z datą wstąpienia Polski do Unii Europejskiej. Przedsięwzięcie to wskazywać miało na otwarcie się nowotomyślan na nowe wyzwania i możliwości. Spacerując ulicą Mickiewicza można podziwiać wykonane z wikliny parasole chroniące przed słońcem, gazony, dekoracje elewacji, a także kwietniki obsadzone kwiatami. W okresie wakacyjnym największe zainteresowanie turystów wzbudza wiklinowa postać Tomysa, siedząca na tarasie kawiarni „Agatka”.
W 2005 roku Wielkopolska Organizacja Turystyczna przyznała wiklinowemu deptakowi I miejsce w kategorii: turystyka piesza w konkursie na Najlepszy obiekt turystyki aktywnej w Wielkopolsce.

Mickiewicza St. joins two squares In Nowy Tomyśl, Niepodległości Square with Chopin Square. It is one of the oldest parts of the town which used to be called the Golden Street because of the “golden business” the merchants used to make here. For a few years now this place has been commonly called “the wicker promenade”. On May 1, 2004 the wicker promenade was a venue of the 4th edition of a basketry event called Picnic with Wicker. Then the basket makers from Nowy Tomyśl made many unique wicker forms which decorated this part of the town. The creation of the wicker promenade took place at the moment of Poland’s joining the European Union. This venture was supposed to point in a symbolic way to the opening of the inhabitants to some new challenges and possibilities. Taking a walk along Mickiewicz St. one may admire wicker sunshades, wicker façades, sun blinds, as well as beautifully maintained flower beds. During the holiday season, Tomys wicker figure sitting on the terrace of a cafe “Agatka”evokes the greatest interest of tourists. In the year 2005 the wicker promenade took the 1 place in the competition organised by the Wielkopolska Tourism Organization in the category hiking tourism for The best object of active tourism in Wielkopolska.

Die Mickiewicz-Straße verbindet die beiden Plätze Neutomischels, den Niepodległości-Platz und den Chopin-Platz miteinander, und wird auch die Korbweidenpromenade genannt. Diese Verbindungsstraße verläuft in einem der ältesten Teile der Stadt und trug früher den Namen „Goldstraße”. Der Name war eine Anspielung auf die „goldenen Geschäfte” der hiesigen in ihr ansässigen Geschäftsleute. Seit einigen Jahren ist diese Fußgängerzone allgemein als Korbweidenpromenade bekannt. Am 1. Mai war die Promenade der Veranstaltungsort des 4. Flechtevents unter dem Namen „Picknick mit der Weide“ statt. Zu ihrem Anlass haben die hiesigen Flechter viele einzigartige Korbweidenelemente hergestellt, um diese Straße von Nowy Tomyśl zu schmücken. Die Entstehung der Korbweidenpromenade fiel in die Zeit des EU-Beitritts Polens. Diese Veranstaltung sollte die Öffnung der Einwohner von Nowy Tomyśl auf neue Herausforderungen und Möglichkeiten symbolisieren. Es gibt hier Sonnenschirme aus Weide, Blumenbeete, Weidengeflechtfassaden, als auch mit wunderschönen Arrangements bepflanzte Blumenampeln. In den Sommerferien erregt bei der Touristen die an einem Cafétisch beim Agatka-Café sitzende Korbweidengestalt des „Tomys“ großes Aufsehen. Im Jahr 2005 erhielt die Korbweidenpromenade von der Regionalen Tourismusorganisation Großpolen im Wettbewerb in der Kategorie Wandertourismus den 1. Platz für „Das beste Objekt des aktiven Tourismus in Großpolen“.
