Nidge "clocked" Garda Terry who was working as a bouncer on the door of "The Vantage".
Nidge set out to find out where Garda Terry lived and quizzed Garda Martin, his informant.

Nidge questions Garda Martin
Garda Martin thought his colleague was simply trying to earn an extra few bob but Nidge didn’t believe him. He wanted information about where he lived and then Nidge sent someone to intimidate Garda Terry at his home.
This was to set off a chain of events and the cat and mouse game that ensued had major repercussions even though Nidges suspicions were incorrect at that time. The Cig was impressed that Garda Terry was studiously tracking Nidge and his gang. Garda Terry was soon recruited by Detective Moynihan and he was reinstated as a detective in his undercover unit.
Their sole purpose was to put Nidge and his gang behind bars.
The Gardai decided to do their own psychological warfare when they released Elmo from questioning without his rap sheet.
They played a prank by spray painting "Elmo is a rat" on the wall beside his flat.
