This series highlights the District’s parklands with 15 different caches listed below. The outstanding parks and recreational resources managed by the District are among Johnson County’s most popular and valuable community assets. Each park has a cache with a code in it. Collect all 15 and you will have the coordinates to this series final. Some of these caches are located at future parklands and some are located within existing parks. Enjoy these gems of the county and happy caching, but most of all have FUN!!
This cache is for the future Big Bull Creek Park site. This is to be a forth regional park in the county. This site is almost 1,400 acres outside of Edgerton. It features upland fields and riparian forest habitat with a few ponds. The most striking habitat is along the creeks. Martin Creek flows from the west and joins Big Bull Creek which flows through this site from the north into Hillsdale Reservoir just south of the park. While Hillsdale public lands are on the south side of the site, Mildale Farm and another 600 acres join it on the north. Midale Farm, an event rental facility, is the only part now open to the public. This will be a beautiful pastoral park when developed. Mater planning is scheduled to begin for this site in 2015. This is a multi cache to take you to different parts of this site, however due to road construction in 2015 non 199th Street, all stages are in the southern end of the property and all are on public right away. Enjoy this cache and the chance to see some of JCPRD’s future while imagining all the great caching opportunities.
