Scientists estimate that there are from 5 to 50 million different species of plants, animals and fungi on our planet, but so far less than 10 percent have been described. A described species is an organism that has been studied and assigned a scientific name (the scientific name is always written in italics with the first letter of the genus capitalized).

Of the organisms awaiting discovery, approximately 50 new species are described each day with the majority of them being either an insect or a plant and 99% of all described species are smaller than a bee. Most newly discovered species live in tropical forests that are threatened with deforestation. Countless numbers of species are disappearing from our planet before scientists even have a chance to discover them - some of these species may hold the cure for disease.

So why this particular name for a cache? Well maybe you’ll find a new species or two in or around the cache itself, you never know! In order to find this cache, you’ll need to locate both of the structures pictured below. Since the geek wants as many fellow cachers as possible (including out-of-towners) to be able to find the cache, the geek is providing you with reference point hints below. The geek has a fondness for aquatic habitats so this hint should help you find these two structures.

Where these two lines intersect you will find Entogeek’s New Species cache. Since it’s unlikely that any cacher will come up with the exact co-ordinates, the geek will tell you that the digital root of all 6 decimal digits (i.e. the six numbers to the right of the decimal point) of the co-ordinates is 10. Geochecker which will tell you if your calculations are close enough for you to find the cache.
