Geocache Description:

"Geodes Galore"

Sunday May 10th, 2015 2pm- 4pm

Join the adventure as we learn about geodes. We will have some samples of rough and newly split geodes as well as some polished and complete for display. Watch as rayven1972 shows us how a geode is split.

Gather at the open air classroom outside of the Hurstville Interpretive Center for a live demonstration of geode bustin'.

Geode Digging Video

See a variety of examples and learn a little bit about geodes and Iowa geology from one of the Jackson County Naturalists. You might even get the chance to "bust" open a geode for yourself.

Join us for the fun. =)

There will be some rough geodes available to purchase to try your luck at bustin' one open at the event. =)

Safety First. If you are interested in trying to break open a geode for yourself, please bring your own hammer, gloves and safety glasses or goggles if you have them.
