Hyogo port (Kobe port) opened in 1868 and foreign settlement was set near the port.
A road was also made to connect the settlement and their residences.
Now, these residences are famous as "Ijin-kan" (foreigners residence) and many people come to see them.

この居留地と外国人の住居のある雑居地を結ぶために作られたのがトアロードです。
雑居地は今は北野の異人館として多くの観光客を集めています。
