Lost Heritage - Padthaway
Padthaway Heritage Cottage
Initially going past this seemed to be another of those long forgotten locations, despite just being on the outskirts of town!
However, upon pulling up to take a look, there is a sign board with some not-so-lost history! :-)
This cottage was built for the overseer of the Padthaway run who drowned at sea.
It continued to be the home to Lawson's workmen.
In the 1940's it was used as the Padthaway Telephone Exchange.
It was also used as a drop-off point for mail, etc..
In the 1980's it was used as the doctor's surgery.
Please do not enter the cottage, despite the lack of fence, as the cache is not anywhere near the buildings!
