With the decline of Clifton street, with shops closing the Council decided to 'do up' the street, and part of the Clifton street makeover was to make it a 'one way' street, clearly the council officer that made that decision had probably never driven down Clifton street in their life or even looked at it on a map. Ask any of the local traders and you will hear “Don't talk to me about the 'one way' stupid council”, “I have to drive around Splott and Tremorfa to get back on Newport road”, “Must have had the planning meeting down the pub I think” and “Should have made it one way but the other way” hence the name of this cache.
Clifton street will never die, even though Woolworths, Cobwoods ironmongers, Noah's ark pet shop and others have gone and even the police station has closed there are still some brilliant shops that serve the local area, Cardiff and beyond.
I can't mention shop names as that would be advertising but on Clifton street there is probably the best Locksmith in South Wales, great butchers (one of which was established in 1884 and my old boss drives 44 miles there and back just to go to), greengrocers, hairdressers for men and women, a vegetarian restaurant that is so good it you may never eat meat again.
Hungry? You can get Portuguese, Polish, Hungarian food or just simply great patisserie.
What other street could you buy your pork, sweet potatoes and a safe while getting a tattoo and a haircut, getting your nails done while you are waiting for your Chinese take-a-way to be ready?
The cache itself is to small to hold trackables or swaps, or even a pencil but a good geocacher brings their own.
Congratulations to Sheepshock for your FTF Please note. The cache location has changed slightly away from Muggles.
