The cache is hidden very close to Eshott Airodrome, formally RAF no.57 operational training unit, now a civilian air strip.
Flying from Eshott started in November 1942 when the airfield was developed as a training facility for Spitfire Aircraft; at this time some 2000 people were accommodated on the site.
Over the years most of the war-time facilities have been removed but the original runways remain and have been resurfaced for private flying.
