David M. Miller, Veteran of the Civil War
His grave marker makes no mention of his service. However, at the foot of his grave is an old iron rod sticking out of the ground, the top of which forms part of a loop. From this iron rod once hung a southern cross, a marker to recognize a person’s service in the Civil War.
A check of records disclosed very little information for David. He mustered into the Alabama Militia as a First Lieutenant and ranked out with the same.
First Lieutenant David Miller died just 3 years after the war ended.
