Geocache Description:

A Geocaching.com CITO event to help improve the community

CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out. Geocaching.com's CITO Weekend for 2015 is April 24 to 27. Over this weekend geocachers around the globe will gather together, pick up rubbish, restore natural areas and more — plus earn a pretty sweet new souvenir for your collection.

As April 25 is ANZAC Day this CITO event will be held on Sunday April 26.

Grenada North Park is used by a number of sporting codes as well as being a recreational area for the local community. This is our opportunity to help the community keep this area tidy.
The intentions are to collect any rubbish that is lying about on and within the boundaries of the park. In addition, a few years ago, the Council removed a number of large pine trees from between a couple of levels. Wilding seedlings are trying to regain a hold. As well as removing the rubbish we can help out by cutting down these seedlings.

As this is a CITO event, we can't forget the caching part. For those that haven't yet found them, there are four caches within the boundaries of the park, you'll also drive past some getting here and a number of puzzle caches have final GZ's in the wider vicinity. Which ones - aahhh that's over to you to solve

For the little ones theres a playground close by and if I speak kindly to the right person the local football club might open their training facility and provide some footballs to kick about. Toilets are available.

There may be some sustenance available at the end of the event. Please bring your own drinking water to stay hydrated during the collection.

Please bring suitable shoes/boots for walking about the park, gardening gloves, and if you have them a pruning saw and/or long handled loppers. The park is on a number of different levels with some reasonably steep banks to scramble around.

Location: Grenada North Park, Jamaica Drive
Parking: access approximately 50m up Nassau Ave on the left
Date: Sunday, 26 April 2015
Time: 10.30 - 11.30am

It would be appreciated if you could please indicate in your planning to attend log entry, the number of people coming along so we can be adequately prepared on the catering side.

How to get there: From Wellington/Hutt drive north on SH1. Take the Tawa exit and turn right at the first round about to cross back under the motorway. Follow the signs to Grenada North.
If arriving from the north, drive south on the motorway and take the Tawa exit. Turn left just after exiting the motorway (if you accidentally go under the motorway, go around the roundabout and reverse your route.)

From the parking area walk through between the buildings to the last building on the left. The meeting point and the log will be under the veranda.

For those that require (or like) GPS co-ordinates, parking is at 41 11.197S 174 50.204E. The meeting point is at 41 11.208S 174 50.277E
