Geocache Description:

You are invited to a Geocaching event, to be held at the Viaduct Inn near Cork, just under the Chetwynd Viaduct on the afternoon/evening of Sunday 19th April 2015.

The event will start at 6.00 p.m. and go on as long as anyone wants it to or to closing time, whichever arrives first. The bar is family friendly until 9pm when children are no longer allowed - the event will officially be over at 9pm. The time has also been arranged to allow for some local caching for those wishing to do so while there is still daylight.

So what's this "reunion" about? Well, on 7th August 2014, team #ma (Alex and Mel) released the travel bug Friend of Ireland in Germany, wishing it to go to Ireland. When it arrived here on December 30th 2014 (pretty quick) they decided come to Ireland to find it themselves once again. We'll be meeting with them on Sunday after (hopefully) finding the trackable once again. The story isn't quite straightforward though - the trackable is no longer in my hands!

Depending on "will attends", we will have exclusive use of the "stage" area in the back, which is normally closed on Saturday nights and where we can arrange the tables to our liking. If we're smaller in number, this pub is far less crowded than traditional Cork city centre pubs where at times it can literally be like sardines in a tin!

There is a good menu of pub food available and will be served until approximately 8:30pm.

The venue is conveniently located just south of the Cork's Southern Ring Road (N40 - N25 on older maps) on the N70 road that heads out towards Bandon and South West County Cork. There is ample parking right next to the venue.

The evening will be an opportunity to help Travel Bugs and Geocoins on their way, especially if anyone is off to an exotic destination in the near future. If you intend to bring a TB or two, please try to include details of the Bug and its objective in your attendance note, by dropping it into this event cache's inventory prior to attending (you can also do this closer to the event date by writing an additional "note".

There will not be a special area for trackables - it will be up to each individual to make travel bugs and Geocoins available for discovery/swapping.

If you're new to caching or are a regular on the scene, an event like this is an excellent informal way of meeting the names you see on cache logs.

Please note that if you're travelling from a distance and are in need of accommodation, despite it's name, the Viaduct Inn has no on-site accommodation.
