Geocache Description:

This series of caches are placed along the Eglish Heritage Trail and are designed to highlight the history of the area and the wonderful work of the Eglish Historical Society who are responsible for the historical information included below.

28 Tullygiven Lough and Crannog: Tullygiven Lough was one of the sites of the Battle of Benburb (1646). The Crannog (artificial island) would have been constructed as the home of an important family. In 2009 the environs were declared to be an Area of Special Scientific Interest because of the species rich dry grassland.

The cache is a 50mm cylinder and there is a carpark nearby with information about the area. Watch for muggles.

It is muddy at the minute (April) so bring appropriate footwear.
