The quarter Gaj is the most attractive part of Novalja. Promenade Gaj stretches from the center of Novalja to Punta Gaja, on which end is set a sculpture of seagulls. The whole promenade attracts for swimming, evening walks or  enjoying in the sunset setting behind the outlines of the islands far, far away.
Symbolic meanings of seagull are: freedom, adaptation, communication, opportunistic. The book by Richard Bach called ‘’Jonathan Livingston Seagull’’ is a modern cultural legend about essence of freedom.Â
