During the war years, one of the links in Canada's air raid warning system was the Delta Observation Post located on a rocky rise of land on Slack's Hill. The Delta post was built by 20 volunteers of the Ground Observer Corps. It was their job to scan the sky for enemy aircraft and place aircraft spotting calls.
