Geocache Description:

High Five!... Icon challenge.... Whoa there flatlander, before rushing out. The cache IS at the listed coordinates BUT you need to check you qualify before claiming this cache. This is a real challenge when placed in the flattest part of the uk!.

We love our countrys high elevation areas in case you hadn't realised, We also love cache types other than traditionals hence our challenges usually requiring the less well found cache types and this one is no different. To claim a find on this cache you have to have found 5 different icon types above 610m (2000 feet) in Elevation, The caches can be any combination of the icon types as long as they are different (however, we will not accept a moving cache), Archieved caches are okay to use, for example

we found

GCKRB3 10th and 3rd (traditional cache) 1187m above sea level

GCG3A7 Scafell pike a cache to peak them all. (virtual cache) 968m above sea level.

GC4EH6Q A brew with a view - July 2013 - Grey Frier (Event cache) 770m above sea level.(now archieved)

GC5HP4K Geology of Great Whernside ( Earth cache) 683m above sea level.

GCJ76P Cairn Gorm 1 (Web cam cache) 650m above sea level.

When logging your find please add your list of qualifying finds in the format above or a screen print from a database is also accepted.

How to find the elevation of a cache:

GPS – Using your GPS unit, put the little pointer on the map next to the selected cache and you should be able to see the elevation. Others will display the altitude of the cache once selected. You can also note your altitude while at the cache through one of the other functions on your GPS.

Geocaching Maps– Using the Ordnance Survey map on the map page you will see brown contour lines that will usually get you to within +/- 100 feet in elevation.

GSAK - Select the Elevation.gsk macro on any database within GSAK and this will automatically include the elevation of each Cache onto the database.

Project GC - Select the Cache Stats tab, then Top Elevation, you can then use the filter to select Regions and you have a list of the highest caches with the elevation in metres next to each cache.

If you enjoyed this challenge or more to the point qualifying for it, why not tell us in the log which qualifying cache you prefered and why? This is not a logging requirement but may inspire others to look for the uk's great high elevation caches.

The challenge cache is a simple pot and a simple hide, The difficulty rating reflects the challenge while the terrain rating reflects the challenge cache.

Have fun!
