There are various unfinished Millstone's throughout the Mournes, most abandoned due to a fault in the rock making further progress pointless. Why this one was abandoned, we will never know. I have fond memories of looking for this stone at 1am in the snow one morning. A friend (Mr Chuck) had hidden something for me, finding a millstone in the dark while buried in snow was tricky enough, then we had to dig all round it with our ice axes to find the treasure hidden below. Hopefully your search will be much easier.

As with all caches placed in the mountains there is a risk of injury. Weather conditions can change rapidly. It is always better to walk in a group than alone and you should ensure you have the necessary skills and are properly equipped for the terrain.
