A 2.5MW wind turbine can produce 9 million KWh of electricity per year, which can supply approx. 1,500 average households with electricity for the year.
The wind farm between St Francis and Oyster Bay has 32 turbines which will generate approximately 300 million KWh per year – enough to supply approximately 50 000 average households with electricity.
We placed this cache on quite a windy day and were suprised by how much it sounded as if an aeroplane was passing overhead.
The cache is placed beside the road passing this wind farm and a panoramic view of the Kouga region from Humansdorp in the West to St Francis in the East is visible, even though it is dotted with many of these turbines.
