My day started out on the practice tee where I thought I could loosen up so I'd be on top of my game. I was clearly not warmed up. I was at the first provided waypoint N 43 13.227 W 079 58.688, and I was using my driver. I reliably hit the ball 227m every time with that club. It's just the 'direction' I have problems with. My eyes were closed and I heard people screaming 'FORE' from all directions, so I have no idea where it went. A few seconds later I heard a very distinctive 'thunk'. Hmmm. That didn't sound like grass.
Well, I figured more practice wasn't going to help, so I headed out on the course. I teed off from the second point I waymarked for you: N 43 13.191 W 079 58.577. Well, let's just say I should have practiced a little more. I was using my 3 wood for this hole and I know that I always hit the ball 200m with this club. But you guessed it - I don't know where it went. A few seconds later I heard that exact same sound again! Odd. Very odd.
For a couple of holes I managed to keep most of my shots on the fairway - that's what you call the sand, right? Anyway, my luck quickly ran out and things really fell apart. I acutally landed a shot in the nearby Farmer's Market! Fortunately nobody was hurt, although my ball landed in a delicious loaf of freshly baked bread! The vendor let me keep it and I ate up before my next shot! I dropped my ball next to her stall at the third waypoint I gave you: N 43 13.379 W 079 58.642.
This time I used my 7-iron because I needed to get the ball over the tents setup at the market. I always hit my 7-iron 196m. I know, pretty good, huh?! But, again I couldn't see where the ball landed. But guess what? A few seconds later I heard that exact same 'thunk' I had heard before.
That was it - I was all out of golf balls, so I packed it in and went caching. I am actually pretty good at that. Well, just don't count all my DNF logs!
The important stuff:
Cache is NOT on private property, and the golf course IS private property. I did not tresspass while making up this story..um, I mean golfing, so you should not trespass when searching for it. I couldn't afford to play at this course, anyway. LOL
