juniorwoodchuckhuey: OK, enough is enough. Due to the extended period that Acadia has been closed to the public, I am going to archive several caches on campus. This one has not seen much activity in recent years, so it's getting archived.

Geocache Description:

Congrats to boxerbailey & lobstergirl for their truly epic FTF!

To solve this onsite puzzle cache, you will visit six waypoints, in any order you wish. At each waypoint you will find a year, corresponding to the graduating class that made a gift to Acadia. Use these numbers to get the final location. Read the instructions below carefully - some locations may be confusing otherwise. The cache is hidden in the same area as the six waypoints, with permission.

A tradition at Acadia University is for each graduating class to make a gift to the University. Many of these gifts are outdoors. You will visit six locations on campus where you can see the gifts, and in particular the year of the class making the gift. In most (but not all) cases, the year is on a plaque or stone. Enjoy the beautiful campus as you visit these waypoints.

The final coordinates are at N 45 05.ABC W 064 21.DEF, where the digits A - F can be determined from the class years (4-digit numbers) below:
  • Waypoint A: 3rd digit of year (you should be standing on it)
  • Waypoint B: 3rd digit
  • Waypoint C: The year is not at this location but you can see it from here. Look west for a prominent round object, high on a building. Something out of place will tell you the last two digits of the class year. Convert to 4-digit year, then calculate 3rd digit minus 4th digit.
  • Waypoint D: 4th digit
  • Waypoint E: 3rd digit
  • Waypoint F: 3rd digit
Note that in most cases (all except "C" I think), the number you are looking for should be part of a "Class of ...." sign. Here are some ways to (partially) check your answer:
  • A+B+C=11
  • D+E+F = 16
  • The final is within 175m (574 feet) of the posted coordinates.
