True story:
This spot on the lake may look like all of the rest of the lake but it is special.
Back in 1889 the local Wetfoot tribe that inhabited this region had erected a scaffold right here where they used to perform their fire walking rituals. The young braves looked forward to the day they turned sixteen when they could paddle their dugout up to this scaffold, face the elders and walk across a bed of coals without saying a word or shedding a tear to prove their manhood. The legend tells of a young brave hereinafter called Two Redfeet who was less than prepared for this ceremony. The young brave was barely 14 but determined to perform the ritual. half way across the bed of coals he started screaming with pain and jumping up and down, the scaffold, weakened by many fires, collapsed, dumping young Two Redfeet into the lake together with the elders of the tribe that were present for the ceremony. The hissing sound of the red coals hitting the water can almost be heard to this day if you sit quietly in your boat and listen carefully.
That day marked the end of the ceremonies and gave the name to this place.
