John Howe, one of the original Coromandel free settlers, was granted land here in 1802 and named the property Howe’s Farm. Howe put the 100 acre property up for sale in 1813 at which time it entered into the hands of the Hall family who named the property Myrtle Farm.

Myrtle Farm became newsworthy when ex-premier John Thomas (Jack) Lang purchased the property in 1929. Jack Lang served as premier of New South Wales on two occasions; 1925-27 and 1930-32.

A piece of trivia, Mr Lang named his pet bull Ebenezer.
