Wow...Pig Roast #10! When I held the first one way back in 2006 I had no expectations that I'd still be hosting them in 2015. With nearly 400 "Attended" logs between the previous nine Roasts, there's been a whole lot of mingling, making of new friends and plenty of merriment.
I am keeping the Pig Roast on the road, this time traveling to Burlingame State Picnic Area in lovely Charlestown. There are plenty of caching opportunities (by foot, bike or horse and maybe even kayak) in the area, so spend a day caching Burlingame WMA before meeting up with fellow cachers.
Here are the details as of now. I will update things as we get closer to the date (and will post a note when they are updated). Be sure to "Watch Listing" to stay up to date.
- When: Saturday, July 11th, 2015, from 3:00-5:00pm. I have the pavilion all day, and I may get there early, so don't hesitate to stop by and see if others are there. However, you need to be present at some point between 3 & 5pm to claim the "Attended".
- Where: Burlingame State Picnic Area, Charlestown, RI at the Pavilion (posted Coordinates)
- Food: Chips, Dip, Veggie Plates and Soft Drinks; I will have the grills fired up, so if you feel like bringing something for yourself to grill, please do! I will have cooking utensils available. And to make this truly a "pig roast", I will have pulled pork sliders and cole slaw available for a small fee (as long as they hold out!).
- Park Details: Dogs are allowed on a leash no longer than 6'. There is no fee to enter the park, but I am requesting a small voluntary donation to help defray the cost of renting the Pavillion and for food. Parking for the event is in the main lot, a short walk from the pavillion. The pavillion is beach side, so if the weather is nice, plan for a swim!
Come on out after a day of caching and share your caching stories, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones. There is a swimming beach nearby and loads of caches!
This is a Rain or Shine Event!
* Since I will be serving pulled pork sandwiches, I guess I can no longer claim that "No Pigs will be harmed in the execution of this event".
