Geocache Description:

League of Idaho Cachers

Joseph, one of the founding members of the League of Idaho Cachers, dreamed of creating a geocaching loop beginning in Weiser, ID that would take cachers through the desert portions of Idaho and Oregon. The route was started in November of 2010 and five years later we're completing the loop. That's a long time, but we got side tracked along the way with the 4-4-0 General Geoart (GC3FA3B), the F-16 geoart (GC35AXD), the Idaho Star (GC5PX2N) and the Eagle geoart (GC4QY49) near Yerington (all of which were designed by Joseph). The original group of four has been very busy and that group has now grown to about 15-20 who help out on a regular basis. While other members have been instrumental it's doubtful you'd be enjoying so many out-of-the-way views were it not for Joseph's dream.

This portion of the trail is located from just outside Jordan Valley, OR, passing through Succor Creek and up to Homedale, ID. Don't let the ranking fool you, this is a true Power Trail and you should treat it as such. The higher ranks reflect the variable terrain and road quality. You will be driving approximately 70 miles without gas or other services so plan accordingly. There is gas and food at both Jordan Valley and Homedale. There is a rest area at Succor Creek Recreation Area where there is also camping but no water. There is a lot of private land out here, so please stay with the trail or marked roads unless you have a land map to guide you.

This area can be dangerous in inclement weather or if there is snow on the ground. We advise you not to drive these roads if they are wet or snowy, especially in the out-of-the-way areas. Getting stuck out here could be costly, at the least.

You should have opportunity to see a lot of wildlife so bring your camera, if so inclined. There are deer, antelope, rabbits, coyotes, wildflowers and a variety of birds. You may also see big horn sheep around Succor Creek. In addition to the wildlife you will see Jordan Craters and a wide variety of geology.

We from the League wish you all the best. Have a safe adventure!
