Hoosier_Reviewer: Since there has been no response to my previous note, I am archiving the cache.

GEOCACHING STRING THEORY

While many geocachers may go out caching alone, Geocaching is certainly a community activity. Everything that we do while caching is connected to other cachers and caches as if intertwined by a huge web of string. We hide caches to bring others to a great place, to make them laugh at a great container, or to increase their smiley count. We challenge others to hide more creative caches or find more unique locations.

When we hide a cache, we also slightly affect where future caches can be hidden.

All these little interactions are recorded in the logs…and there are some great logs out there in Valpo.

So I placed a cache and took out a large piece of string and connected it to various caches in the area to determine how far away those caches where from mine. But rather than simply tell you what caches I used…I am going to make you hunt through past logs and figure it out.

So using my really long piece of string, I determined that my cache is about:

2.77 miles from TeamPhoenix’s cache that was Vamtrix’s first multi ever and Fartbag’s multi for 7SoA.

1.45 miles away from Team Triggers’ cache where I (BadWolf1197) almost stepped on three different frogs.

1.34 miles away from Miss Mudslide’s cache that Fartbag insists is her nickname and where Dave w/o ID recants a funny ground-zero run-in from the past.

1.09 miles from another TeamPhoenix cache that ProudCachers found on a day that included 13 smileys. This cache was also Dusti Rose’s first find of 2015.

1.00 miles from I Calibrate’s cache that brought TeamPhoenix to a historic place they would not have found otherwise. Even though it was “toe numbingly cold” when she went out, Zoedoggy still found this cache and grabbed her first travel bug.

0.92 miles from Vamtrix’s cache that scheblo25 logged the FTF for…but left footprints for the STF, Steelygrey.

0.86 miles from paul.nord’s cache that StarbellySneetch just could not reach (a little too short). TriGamma was glad to have bleachers available to sign the log.

0.44 miles from SheChem’s cache where drominore ran into three “LFCs” and tells a great story about the cache being muggled.

0.17 miles from a cache that Croston3 found less than a week after Fartbag logged one of the most classic DNFs you will ever read.

0.14 miles from a cache where epoch13 and SH may have done a little more than just find the cache.

You are looking for a small plastic container. There is an unactivated micro-coin for the FTF.

If you need help, or think you have it figured out, but just can’t seem to find the cache…feel free to contact me through email or the Geocaching Messaging Center.

Good luck and happy caching.
