Geocache Description:

St Mary of the Crays Catholic Church, Crayford. Another Church Micro in the series created by Sadexploration.

There has been a church on this site since the 1840's. In 1931 a parish hall was built. By the 1950s the old church was far too small and discussions took place about plans for an enlarged or new church. In 1971 the contract for the new church was signed off. The foundation stone was laid by Archbishop Cowderoy in April 1972. On 6 December 1973, the new church was formally opened.

The church and the attached two-storey parish centre were built from designs by W. Brian Mead. The facades are built of dark brown bricks, laid in stretcher bond. The plan is rectangular with an attached thin bell tower at the northeast corner, which also incorporates a chimney. It has a small gabled projection with lateral glass brick windows.

And so to the cache. The co-ords take you to a blue sign. The age range of the playgroup is A years B months - C years.

(11/1/19) The sign seems to have changed so the last digit of the phone number, A and Daily Mass - B:1C.

Just to the left of the sign is an entrance to the church. Go through that and find the foundation stone (the layout of this page gives a hint to where it is). It was laid on the DEth April.

You are looking for a magnetic film canister a short walk away at these co-ordinates:

N51 27. D (D-C+B) (E-D)

E0 10. (E-C) (A-C+E) C
