Geocaching in a quaint little town in rural Western Loudoun County.
It is nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Here is a little history to peak your interest!!
In 1733, Benjamin Grayson and Thomas Gregg were granted the first tracts of land in today’s Round Hill. A small community known as Woodgrove began to emerge in the late 1700’s. With the building of the Leesburg and Snicker Gap’s Turnpike things began to change. A small store opened and the US Postal Department opened a post office, on March 28, 1858, in Round Hill. In the late 1800's the railroad came to Round Hill. With two or three small stores, a blacksmith, a livery stable and a wheelwright shop it was a bustling little town by the 1900’s. The Virginia General Assembly incorporated the town of Round Hill on February 5, 1900, appointing two town commissioners. In 1913, Round Hill received waterworks and by 1926 it was encouraged that all privies be updated and septic tanks encouraged.
Today there is a quaint little park in the center of the downtown with play equipment for the kids, park benches, a table with chairs and most recently a pavilion which is the center stage of the annual “Round Hill Home Town Festival.”
If you head to the back of the park you will see a little trial that heads into the woods and you will be on the right track for my geocache!
