Nice easy Cashe and Dash with a view of Ardverikie House
Ardverikie House is probably best known from the TV show Monarch of the Glen the money from which helped renovate the house. Queen Victoria stayed in the Origional House for a Month in 1847. Its history is long and involves more than one rebuild after fire but the current house was Built in 1877. The micro Hydro scheme being added in 1907 to pwer the house and surrounding cottages. Origionally the access was via a ferry to the main gate where horses and carridges were stabled to take visitors to the House. The remains of an old streel strapped granits block pier for the boats can be stillseen down at the Loch slightly up from the Layby although this fell from the maps of the area around the time of the war.
This is a nice easy cashe and dash not requiring much effort and easy to find. BE CAREFULL although the layby gets you off the road it is quite small and this is a busy road.
