Charles & Betty Russell Hiking Trail

The City of Ashland & Healthy Choices Kentucky present the Charles & Betty Russell Hiking Trail. The 1.2 mile hiking trail with three different trail paths meets the goal of fighting obesity in Kentucky. The City of Ashland and The Foundation for the Tri-State Community received a $12,500 grant through The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky for the trail benches, garbage cans, signage and construction materials. Healthy Choices Kentucky contributed $5,000 to the hiking trail project through funding received from the Mission Fund of the Bon Secours Health System. The desire of the Russell's 1978 land donation to the City of Ashland was to establish a nature trail for the use and benefit of the citizens of Ashland and the general public. All the information to obtain the final coordinates for the cache can be found at the Ashland Avenue trail head. Trail hours are from dawn to dusk.
