Geocache Description:

Placed in memory of Paul Edwin Kast (1928-2015).

Paul practiced law on Long Island for 62 years and continued to make his way to his office every day until his death. The brick building is up for sale now, but if you're lucky you may still see his name proudly displayed on the walls. We had the opportunity to meet our neighbor, Paul, as he arrived to work during the record-breaking winter of 2014-15 determined to get past the feet-high snow piles that stood between Merrick Road and his office door. We were more than willing to help him each day and he was always extremely gracious for our help. On more than one occasion he wrote us letters expressing his gratitude, offering to write free wills for our families and even making a check out to cash urging us to "enjoy a delicious meal" on him. We were deeply moved by his determination and kind words, and have placed this cache in his honor.

We wanted to make this cache more of a unique experience than a difficult find, so there is no need to go behind or in any of the businesses to log the find. Posted coordinates are not the location of the cache, but will offer clues of where to go next which is within walking distance of the posted coordinates. Please be respectful of the salon on the first floor, there is no need to approach their door or windows. The cache owners occupy the second floor of the property. Bring a pen!

Please make sure the cache is returned in the same manner you had to retrieve it and indicate in the comments if maintenance is needed!
