This will be the first appearance for an Ecuador team at an international women’s competition after beating Trinidad and Tobago in a regional qualifier. La Tricolor are the lowest ranked internationally of all the teams at the WWC (48th) and will open against Cameroon in Vancouver on June 8. They will also play against Japan and Switzerland in a group where any of the four teams stands a chance of advancing.
Okay, so you won’t find many large black and white balls being kicked around at this playing field, but it is a great Ecuadorian tradition to play a round of golf on Saturday morning prior to sitting down to watch the match of the day.
