It is the time of spring in the Viking year and the flowers are budding and growing, the seeds are sewn for the harvest, and all the animals are giving birth to there young. At this time of year the Vikings are preparing to go exploring and raiding. They prepare their ships, pack their chests and sharpen there weapons.
Whilst out looking after the animals late at night, one Viking hears strange noises coming from the vally, but cant see the cause. At first light he and some friends go out to investigate, they find the body of a ewe and her young scattered over a clearing in the trees.
This happens the next few nights and many a meeting is had over what to do, what could be the cause? Wolves and dogs are the main suspect, until late one night they hear a terrible screaming and rush towards the noise. In the village a woman is hysterical and crying her new born child is missing!
The Vikings search the dwelling and sure enough the child is gone, only blood remains. In the confines of the house they notice a smell they had not noticed outside, the smell of wet fur, damp dirt, dried blood, rotten fish and bad b.o. .......... the smell of a troll!
They had thought they had vanquised the lands of trolls, but it appers a young troll escaped the massace, has now grown up and made a home nearby. The Vikings gathered up a force and headed out in search of the troll, to free the lands of its menace. They left behind a map of there intended journey and their final area of attack. It is to this area you must travel and help the search for the troll. If you find it, do what you must do steathily and leave it resting and asleep in its home. A troll is a suprisingly strong creature when awakened but can only awake at night so during the day it hides away from the sun in a coma-like state, for if it moves in sunlight it would get turned to stone.
Many people will be needed to vanquish this folly once we find its hiding place, so leave a name and hopefull one day we shall go to battle!
