Geocache Description:

This cache marks the Shannon Valley Open Space trailhead at the end of Santa Rosa Drive. You can park within about 25' of the cache. You can also park on Shannon Road and hike up if you'd prefer more of a challenge (it's a steep hike!) From either entrance, you can also explore the whole area and grab the rest of the caches here.

Imagine my surprise to find a trailhead anywhere in Santa Clara County that didn't already have a cache! The situation had to be rectified. :) The cache itself is a type that I saw a lot on a recent trip to Vegas, but I've never seen it here or anywhere else. I made my own, but nano-sized it! It's bigger than your usual nano, but smaller than your usual micro, and it's definitely log only. You can see a bit of the cache when you get within a few feet of it. While you're here, enjoy the fantastic view of the Shannon Valley! (Trail hours are 7am to sunset.)

Update Jan 2026: The cache is now a standard-model bison

Congratulations to wa11acew for the quick FTF!
