This cache is dedicated to the recent strides made by the Culpeper community on upgrading its public infrastructure. Standing at or around the posted coordinates, cast your gaze at the following:
1) To your left, you'll see the recently constructed stone monument marking the corner boundary of the Farview Cemetery. The cemetery was established in 1855 and is managed by the Town of Culpeper. It serves one of the larger publicly managed burial grounds for the Town and County of Culpeper.
2) Straight ahead you'll see the traffic circle which opened in the fall of 2014 replacing what had become a highly congested traffic-light controlled intersection. This traffic circle now easily passes traffic, without stopping, between Virginia Avenue, Sperryville Pike (US-522), and Colonel Jameson Boulevard providing much relief to both thru traffic and residents of the nearby subdivisions along US-522.
3) Colonel Jameson Boulevard opened for use on December 23, 2014. It provides a higher speed bypass route from the intersection of Virginia Ave. and US-522 to the busy intersection of US-29 and US-229. Prior to this route opening all traffic had to continue down US-522 to the intersection with Main Street (US-29) resulting in a highly congested and delay prone driving experience. Colonel Jameson Boulevard is also informally known as the "Inner Loop Bypass" or the "Walmart Expressway" by those residents most local to the roadway.
Cache Notes:
The cache site is located at the beginning of the public walking path that goes along Colonel Jameson Boulevard. This is also an entry point to the Fairview Cemetery where the entrance plaza contains some benches for resting as well as some informative monuments. It is not necessary to enter the cemetery to obtain the cache, however, should you wish to sit and enjoy the area I would highly recommend it. The cemetery is open from 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset should you wish to venture inside. You will need to bring your own writing utensil.
Parking: Public street parking is available on Virginia Avenue leaving you a short walking distance on the sidewalk. Please obey all crosswalk markings and be alert when crossing the traffic circle approach to get to the site. While all traffic is supposed to yield to pedestrians before proceeding into the circle, local drivers are still acclimating to the introduction of "roundabouts" into the local community.
The cache is a nano container which should not present much difficulty to even those just beginning their geocaching journey. Only moderate stealth required as most muggles passing by will be of the motorized variety. There aren't many muggles on foot in this area.
