Geocache Description:

This cache is a CHALLENGE cache.  While it is located at the above coordinates, you  have to perform certain tasks in order to log it. This is an opportunity to share your knowledge (or gain new knowledge) and have some fun at the same time! Let us explain...

The Challenge:

The idea is that an experienced cacher buddies with a new cacher and shows them the ropes, for example:

  • How to use the GPS or Smart phone app.
  • Tips on finding; what to look for.
  • How to log your find. Cache owners put time and effort into their placements and it’s disappointing to receive an online log that just says ‘TFTC’ or ‘Found it!’.
  • Guidelines for swag and TB's.
  • The importance of logging a DNF.
  • Suggestions for being stealthy.
  • Respecting the environment.
  • General caching etiquette, etc.
  • Connecting with the local geocaching community eg attend an event together, join a Geocaching group on Facebook.

N.B. The above is a list of suggestions which you're welcome to add to as appropriate for your own situation. See below for the actual challenge requirements.

You’re looking for a camoed micro containing a log sheet only. Please bring your own pen.

The difficulty rating reflects the time and effort needed to meet the challenge requirements, as well as finding this specific cache.

Please participate in this challenge in the way it was intended to be played. If you're looking for loopholes to qualify, you're doing it wrong!

So how do you find others to work with? You can introduce geocaching to a friend, workmate or maybe even your Mum or Mother-in-law. Or you could place a note on this listing asking for others to work with, or a note on one of the local Facebook groups such as Geocaching NZ or Kiwicaching.

We hope you enjoy the challenge and that it helps bring more new cachers to the hobby.

The Rules:

You must meet the requirements below to find and log this challenge cache.

  1. There is no restriction on when or where you complete the challenge. You may not find your own caches.
  2. The ‘experienced’ cacher must have 100 or more finds logged before starting this challenge.
  3. The ‘newbie’ cacher must have 20 or less finds logged at the start of this challenge.
  4. Both cachers should have their own individual membership on the geocaching.com website.
  5. The two cachers must find at least five (5) caches together on the same day, and as many other caches as necessary to complete the challenge, not counting this challenge cache. These can be done on other days, but all must be found by the two cachers together.
  6. You must find at least three different cache sizes (eg. nano, micro, small, regular, large).
  7. You must find at least two different cache types (eg. traditional, multi, unknown).
  8. You may use the same cache for two different criteria eg. a traditional micro will count for both type and size.
  9. You may also find other types of caches eg. Earth Caches, but at least five (5) must have a physical container.
  10. If you as an experienced cacher wish to re-visit caches you have previously found, you may do so, as long as they have not been found by the new cacher prior to this challenge, but you must write a note on the cache page stating you are re-finding the cache for this challenge.
  11. Both cachers can find and log this challenge cache individually, provided they have met the requirements.
  12. Although you may have others with you when you find this cache, they must complete the challenge before logging a find.

Logging Requirements:

You must be able to prove that you have completed the challenge, by posting the proof with your log. We reserve the right to remove found logs if we consider the challenge requirements haven’t been met.

  1. Both cachers must sign the physical logs at each cache location and log their finds online.
  2. When you log a find on this challenge cache, please name the other cacher you worked with, how you met them, and how many finds you each had at the start.
  3. If you are the experienced cacher of the team you must post a list of the caches you found together with your log to qualify for the challenge.  If you are the new cacher you just need to state in your log who you buddied with.
  4. The list of caches done for the challenge must include GC number and name of cache, date found, size and type of cache.
  5. If you feel so inclined, a photo of you together would really add to the sense of community (but this request is optional).
