Congratulations to GotSkis? for FTF

From the The Harry Potter series by author J. K. Rowling, Scabbers is introduced in Book 1 as Ron Weasley's pet rat. Scabbers is very old and Ron claims he is useless because he sleeps all the time so Ron pretends to hate him. Scabbers did wake up to bite Gregory Goyle in Ron's defense on the Hogwarts Express, an in turn Ron is secretly very attached to the rat. Although the Hogwarts First Years' shopping list only mentions cats, owls and toads as allowed pets, there does not seem to be any problem with Ron bringing Scabbers along to Hogwarts.

As the series develops, Scabbers isn't highly mentioned again until Book 3. On several occasions in this book Scabbers struggles in Ron's hands, trying to get away. A series of events brings Harry, Ron, Hermione, Professor Lupin, Sirius Black and Professor Snape meeting in the Whomping Willow. Professor Lupin casts a spell designed to reveal whether he is an Animagus or not. Scabber's identity is revealed to be Peter Pettigrew, the man Sirius Black was accused of murdering.
