On June 6, 1903, the Pacolet River swelled to 40 feet above flood-stage, destroying mills and houses and killing at least 68 people. The nearby memorial sculpture depicts the height of the flood waters on that day.
This cache is dedicated to the memory of all of those affected by this tragedy.
