Geocache Description:

A new flock of birds has been released on the porthills. All realtively straightforward to find, but some navigational/ routefinding skills will be handy. And watch out for Mountainbikes! Due to forests in the area cord's could be +/- 10m approx, so clues are pretty specific. Please leave hidden!

Under a few pinecones when placed. Watch for downhill mountainbikes! Theres a fairly well defined track, but it is up a hill and not marked so make sure you are in tramping/ navigation mode!

Pūkeko is the common name, derived from the Māori language, for the purple swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio) of New Zealand. The subspecies occurring there is Porphyrio porphyrio melanotus, which is also found elsewhere in Australasia, including, in eastern Indonesia, the Moluccas, Aru and Kai Islands, as well as in Papua New Guinea and Australia.
