Geocache Description:

You are looking for a camoed plastic jar with room for tradeables and travel bugs. The entrance to the parking area is well marked as you travel on the North/South county road V66 ; you do not need to park on the sholder of the road. Do not attempt from I-80.  Be respectful of this area, do not hunt at night.


Iowa County purchased 3 parcels of farm land in 1866 and 1867.  At the cost of $2,252.62 for 337.25 acres "for the use of the poor".  Over the years four different homes were built.  The first in 1868, then 1878, 1911, and 1977.  Each time the home was larger and provided an improvement in care.  It was first know as the "poor farm".  Then the "Iowa County Home".  It was privitized in 1980, and becamse "Hillside Estates", closing December 31, 2007.  Buried in this one acre cemetary, are residents of the home, county paupers, and others who met death in Iowa County.
