Ansonville School

In 1820, John Swan Sr left his home in New York state with his wife, Phoebe, nee Tubbs. Their destination was Ohio, but after a stop in Tyrone they decided to move to Clearfield County because of the cheap land. Mr Swan purchased 433 acres of land and began producing lye which requires large amounts of wood ashes. Mr Swan shipped the lye to Philadelphia where he got $60 per ton. Mr Swan's son settled in this area and this town was named for him; his name was Anson Swan. Anson died in 1883. The building you see here served for many years as a school house in Ansonville.
DO NOT enter the building. The land owner requests that you stay at the front of the building and this is where the cache can be found.
