貞享義民記念館は、1992年に建てられた記念館です。
1686年に松本藩で起きた百姓一揆、貞享騒動に関する資料を展示しています。
貞享騒動は、地元の元庄屋多田加助を中心として、厳しい年貢の政策に我慢が出来なくなったのをきっかけに発生しました。
約一万人の百姓が松本に押し寄せたそうで、騒動の首謀者として、28人の男性(男子の子供含む。女性はこの頃処刑されませんでした)が処刑されました。
近くには、加助の屋敷跡に建っている神社や加助の墓もあります。
処刑された加助が、裏切られた恨みで松本城の天守を傾けたとの伝説もあります。

Jōkyō Gimin Memorial Museum was built in 1992.
It is happened peasant uprising in Matsumoto in 1686 and has been exhibited the documentation for "Jōkyō Uprising".
Jōkyō Uprising has occurred in the wake of the the the around the local village headman Tada Kasuke,
no longer able to put up with severe policy of rice tax.
So about a million people of peasants gathered in Matsumoto, 28 men as ringleader of uproar (male children including, Woman has not been executed around this time) has been executed.
The near and shrines that are built to house the remains of Kasuke, there is also the tomb of Kasuke.
There is also a legend of the executions have been Kasuke is tilting the tower of Matsumoto Castle in the resentment that has been betrayed.
