Geocache Description:

Just off A Hwy on a Forest Service Road.

This is a Ozark Trail crossing with a little Parking area. We did some Prescribed Burning across the road (3-2015).  Yes along the very busy road. The winds was just right so the smoke was moving away from the road. But we still had extra people on traffic and extra signs to slow people down. Yes, I was there as a traffic person.

I cleaned up several bags full of trash but that never ends. However, as my co-workers know I was also looking for the right spot to hide a geocache, for you to come find, it's a small cache because Singsmom gave me container for my birthday, thank you.

The name is because of an old sign across the highway.  I love old signs and such. The date on the sign is 1975 the Youth Conservation Corps were there working on the Ozark Trail and sign is still there (I was in the YCC 1979 in FL).  Now on the back of that sign is an older painted over sign for a old recreation area called Flowering Dogwood. Just like one of my other caches you can see that this part of the Mark Twain National Forest was first called the Clark National Forest until the mid 1970s. Yes, there are caches at Flowering Dogwood too.  One day I hope we take this old sign in for restoration and maybe display it in the office. Who knows, but it is there for now, with no bullet holes.

I have permission to hide geocaches on the Poplar Bluff Ranger District by the District Ranger, he just smiles at me.

FTF goes to the ever close Jim McDonald
