Geocache Description:

On the first anniversary of our involvement with Geocaching, and having found over 500 caches, we thought it was about time we put out one of our own, for others to find. And so here it is, our first geocache placement.

Cootamundra Drive Reserve is located in the Northern Sydney suburb of Allambie Heights, at the intersection of Cootamundra Drive & Churchill Crescent, and backs onto Manly Dam. We used to bring our kids here, when they were younger, to play on the swings. Those swings were removed some time ago, but recently a new playground was installed in the reserve (opened 6th June 2015). Watch out for fast moving mountain bikes, especially on weekends, as the Manly Dam Mountain Bike Trail runs right through this reserve. Beware that pedestrians are not permitted beyond the reserve, as the track continuing beyond is part of the Manly Dam Bike Trail and has been designated “bikes only”.

Parking: Street parking is available in Churchill Crescent and Cootamundra Drive.

Public Transport: State Transit Bus 142 & 174X (peak hours only) and Forest Coach Bus 280 run along Allambie Road. Alight at the Inglebar Ave bus stop (use the public pathways through to Churchill Cres) or alight at Roosevelt Ave bus stop and follow Roosevelt Ave to Churchill Cres.

Nearby Facilities: Allambie Heights Shops are about 300 metres away (S33° 45.977 E151° 15.038) which has numerous food outlets & cafes, an IGA Supermarket, Newsagent & Post Office, Chemist, ATM, and a BP Service Station. If walking, use the public footpath connecting Churchill Cresent with Roosevelt Avenue.

The Cache is best described as a camouflaged “largish” micro, not quite big enough to be a “small”, and can be easily accessed from the grassed areas. There is no need to enter any bush or native garden areas, so please don’t trample any of the vegetation during your search. Cache contains a Geocaching information sheet, log book & pencil. Some stealth may be required if the playground is occupied.

Please replace as found and ensure the cache container is tightly sealed, to prevent water ingress.
And please No Spoilers !

We hope you enjoy our first geocache placement.
