At Discovery Bay, you will find Albany's iconic old whaling station. Whaling was Albany's (and Australia's) oldest industry. The station ceased whaling operations and was decommissioned in 1978. More information can be found on the Discovery Bay website or by visiting and exploring the site.
To reach the cache, you will need to drive down to the Discovery Bay carpark. You do not need to go through the centre to reach the groyne. There is a path that allows you to walk along the groyne to the jetty at the end. While you are there, you can enjoy the views of the Whaling Station including a great view of former whalechaser Cheynes 1V. If you have not visited this historic site before, take some time out to explore all the attractions and exhibits within the the Historic Whaling Station.
