Las cascadas Juan Diego son uno de los mejores secretos del Yunque. Se trata de una serie de 3 cascadas que podrás apreciar por una corta vereda. El lugar provee hermosas vistas y lugares ideales para un chapuzón. Los charcos no tienen mucha profundidad. Para llegar, debes entrar al poblado de Palmer en el pueblo de Rio Grande, cerca del km 31.9 de la carretera #3 (N 18 22.309 W 065 46.051), y de ahí acceder a la carretera #191 en dirección al Yunque. Los letreros deben llevarte sin problemas. Conduce hasta el km 9.5 y estaciona en las áreas designadas. Entra por la vereda (N 18 18.703 W 065 46.620) (ver foto). Muy cerca de la entrada de la vereda encuentras una pequeña cascadita a mano izquierda (ver foto). Varios metros más adelante encuentras un salto de mediana altura y mucha belleza (N 18 18.698 W 065 46.672) (ver foto). Al llegar a este debes ubicar un camino que sube por la izquierda. Seguramente estará enfangado y resbaloso dada la humedad del lugar. Deberás ayudarte de las raíces para subir. Una vez arriba podrás disfrutar de una tercera e impresionante cascada (N 18 18.702 W 065 46.689) (ver foto). Para llegar al cache debes cruzar la quebrada y subir por la vereda unos cuantos pies. La cascada quedará a tus espaldas. Adjunto una foto del lugar donde está escondido el contenedor MUY bien escondido. Ve listo para mojarte al menos los pies, enfangarte y escalar un poco. Se recomiendan zapatos cerrados con tracción. El contenedor es un lock and lock pequeño. BYOP. ¡Cuidado con los muggles! Estoy seguro que disfrutarán de este impresionante lugar. ¡Feliz cachería!
Consejo: debido a la densidad del follaje, se recomienda encender el GPS desde un lugar en donde se reciba señal, como el inicio de la carretera #191. Encender el GPS cerca del GZ podría dificultar encontrar satélites.
The Juan Diego waterfalls are the best kept secret in El Yunque. It is 3 waterfalls that could be appreciate in a short trail. The place provide beautiful places and the opportunity for a good dip. To reach the place, enter to Palmer neighborhood in Rio Grande from road #3, approximately on kilometer 31.9 (N 18 22.309 W 065 46.051). Then take the road #191. The signs will take you there without problems. Drive to kilometer 9.5 and park on designated areas. Enter by the trail at (N 18 18.703 W 065 46.620) (see picture). Quickly you will find the first little waterfall (see picture). Just a few meters forward you will find the second waterfall (N 18 18.698 W 065 46.672) (see picture). It is beautiful! Then find the trail at the left. It will be slippery and muddy due the humidity. You should use the help of the roots to climb. There is the third and amazing waterfall (N 18 18.702 W 065 46.689) (see picture). To reach the cache you should cross the little river and go up a few feet by the trail. Now the waterfall will be at your back. I include a picture were the cache is VERY hidden. Get ready to get wet, muddy and climb. Use close shoes with traction.
