Geopooch Walk: LOST in the Arkell Spring Grounds Traditional Cache

A quiet walk along wooded trails or a packed dirt road will take you to this cache, located in the Arkell Spring Grounds. I normally don't run into any other people when walking here, but you may come across the occasional dog walker or runner on the trails, and so enjoy bringing my dogs here for a peaceful walk.

The first time I ventured out into this area I was reminded of the TV show 'LOST'...the strange buildings, fences, piping, hatches in the ground had me wondering if I wandered onto an odd movie set. After looking into things further, I found out that this area, the Arkell Spring Grounds, is the main source of water for the city of Guelph. Underground is a high yielding bedrock aquifer that produces numerous fresh water springs along the Eramosa River.
