The trouble with having birthdays in the early spring, unlike with the middle warrior, is that is is either snowing, or raining or just down right cold so outside birthday parties are really never an option. However, with the wee-est warrior, having been born in the hottest time in Minnesota's short lived summers, having a beach party for all her birthdays was never a problem... UNTIL.. we had a run in with Mother Nature having one of her "moods". Party at the beach was planned, all the cousins and friends were going to be there, it was going to be a "surprise" party and everything, but the weather took at extreme turn from really gorgeous to a high of 60 the day of the party. SO, being resourceful and all, a quick change of venue was arranged and instead of jumping off a dock, I organized a project where all the kids made giant bubble wands. The wands that can make bubbles 10 feet long!! (with special homemade bubble juice of course) This was back when there was a phenomenal pavilion here... which has since been torn down and the new assisted living building was built.
I absolutely love this park. The trees are out of this world cool, there aren't any like it anywhere in the area and the ground is literally a carpet of needles. The wee-est often brings up her birthday party here, the bubbles, the fun and the pavilion and how much fun her surprise bubble birthday bash was.
Enjoy your little adventure here and as you walk through the park, look up and be prepared to be amazed. I always am.
