The parent coordinates bring you to a sign. I urge you to read the sign carefully - not just to get the information for the cache, but to REALLY contemplate this place, and the people laid to rest here.
In order to find the cache, calculate the number of years this place was in operation - call that XX.
Add 1/2 of 0.0XX' to the north coordinates and add 0.0XX' to the west coordinates to get the final coordinates. It is very close by.
I stumbled across this place at random while wandering through these woods. There is nothing around to indicate that this place even exists, until you get to it. It's almost like society wanted this place to be forgotten.
The staff at institutions such as the Fernald Center do amazing work. They do their absolute best to ensure that everyone who resides there has the best quality of life they possibly can, and give them a proper send-off when the time comes. No doubt it is a hard and often unrewarding job. I just hope that they know that they are doing real, altruistic work, and can take solace in that fact.
This place makes me just a little bit melancholy every time I see it. It's difficult to know what to make of it. I really hope these people were not forgotten, and that someone out there comes to visit them every so often. Unfortunately, that may not be the case. It makes me quite sad to think of that possibility. It gives me a little hope that at least the staff did not forget them, and DCR has put up a sign describing this place. There is a place for them, even if it is out here in the woods.
They must be acknowledged and respected. I don't know who these 310 people are, but I remember them.
