Geocache Description:

Your Challenge is to find and log a physical cache in the North Island and the South Island on the same calendar day.

This is a fun challenge cache that can be undertaken by plane, boat, ferry, kayak, swimming or by any other transportation method you like to find a cache on both islands, on the same day.

There are many departure and arrival points that connect the two islands directly in around 30 minutes or through to several hours.

3 Nov 2017. This is NOT a traditional cache to just go and find and claim as Found. Too many of you are not completing the Challenge correctly. Please read the Challenge rules carefully!

This is a Challenge Geocache which means that the cache IS at the published coordinates. It's found neither north or south, but you will find it at the scenic Eastern Beach.

To complete this challenge you need to meet the following challenge requirements:

In New Zealand, on the same calendar day, you must find and log:

a) one physical cache type in the North Island and

b) one physical cache type in the South Island

* Only physical cache types with an actual logbook to sign count i.e. virtual caches such as Earthcache, Event, CITO, Virtual, Mega, Benchmarks, Waypoints etc DO NOT count.

* A calendar day is defined as being from midnight to midnight.

* You may sign this challenge cache's physical log at any time. However, the challenge cache may be logged as Found online only after the log is signed and the challenge tasks have been met and documented.

* You may have already qualified for this challenge, finding a cache in each island on the same calendar day prior to this challenge's publication date.

As an optional extra, upload some photos from the 2 locations you visited in both islands on the same day.

As a example, avoyager completed the challenge on 8 March 2015

1) North Island cache: Auckland – Apple Smash takes a shortcut GC5NKKW

2) South Island cache: Nelson – This Old Man GC5BYMZ

Due to the types of travel required to complete this challenge, the cache has a 4 star Difficulty rating.

GZ itself is D1.5/T1.5 with a place to sit and enjoy the easterly view.

Thanks to the SeekerSupreme, a Project-GC Challenge Checker has been published for this cache to make it easier for cachers to see if they qualify.
